saturday night and the moon is out

Tucked away off the road in Bon Temps, there's a road house. Warm light spills from its windows, and the sound of a jukebox playing drifts out into the muggy Louisiana night. The regular assortment of trucks and Hail-Mary-please-keep-this-lemon-goin'-just-a-little-longer cars sit in the dirt parking lot; what amounts to about half the town's small population... or, at least, of those of the 'drinking age and above' persuasion.

Inside, it's a bar of the type scattered all across the American South: homey, no-nonsense. Booths and tables. A man in a plaid flannel shirt wiping the bar; a crossdresser in the kitchen singing Gospel hymns and rolling his hips in time with the words just to scandalize the prep cook. A handful of waitresses, bustling about.

Sookie makes her way briskly through it all, a tray balanced on her palm and her eyes kept stubbornly front, as voices swarm around her. Aloud, and... less so.

...I’m just going to have one beer tonight Jesus one beer that’s all...

...better not gripe about me eating fries not after what I did for him last night...

...I cannot wait to get the hell out of this podunk town...

 

 "Well, make sure you do, and before it’s too late," she responds, thoughtless, to the young man. "Because every year you wait? You just get more and more stuck here. Believe me, I know."

He stares at her. So do his parents.

So does the other table. And she realizes, too little too late, that he hadn't said that out loud, not at all. She laughs, uncomfortable. "I’ll get y'all some ketchup," she says, brightly, and flees, ponytail swinging against the nape of her neck as she goes.

Stupid, Sookie, she chides herself. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

He pulls back enough that she can slip it over his head, then strips it off the rest of the way and drops it to the side before he bends back down to her, kissing the hollow of her throat as he strokes one hand up and down her side, shaping his fingers to her curves.

She spends a few almost delirious moments luxuriating in the expanse of skin he's bared to her, running her hands up and down and over his back, curling her fingers over his shoulders, wrapping her arms around him, lowering her face to the curve of his neck to breathe in that scent that's been tantalizing her since she'd put on his shirt the night before.

His own touch is sending shivers of sensation through her. She shifts towards him, onto her side, and reaches for his hand. When she lifts it gently off her dress, it's not in negation; she brings his hand around to her back, where the zipper of her dress is snugly secure. "You can," she tells him. "I want you to."

He kisses her again, then nods and kisses her shoulder as he draws the zipper gently down, baring her skin. Sam runs his hand back up along her spine and discovers that she's not wearing another layer under the dress, and groans aloud.

Gently, he peels it from her shoulders and down to her waist, then slides his hand up her side to cup the curve of her breast. His hands are so large, and she's so delicate - he tries hard to be gentle, even while his fingers tremble with the force of his restraint.

She gasps and arches up into his hand, which is large enough he can cup her completely in his palm, feeling him tremble. "It's all right," she says, leaning up to kiss him, answering a combination of thought and body language. "It's all right, honey, I'm good, I promise."

Honey, she calls him, and as he kisses her more fiercely than before, trusting her word, he decides he likes it, a lot. "Honey," he whispers, kissing her again. "Sweet. Like you."

Sam ducks his head and kisses her shoulder again, then slides down her body and takes her nipple into his mouth, running his hand behind her back to arch her against him.

"Like you," she insists, then arches up, curving like a rainbow, gasping. "Oh – "

It feels like he's pouring pleasure and delight directly into her, tiny explosions going off deep in her stomach. Her fingers curl against his back, before she drives one shaking hand up into his hair. "Sam."

He makes a sound deep in his chest and swirls his tongue around her, over the tip of her breast, drawing up -- and then shifting to do the same thing on the other side, giving both equal attention.

Her head pushes back as she moans, her eyes closing, nerves lighting like fireflies under her skin. How he’s doing this to her with just his mouth and lips and tongue she has no idea, but the last thing she wants is for him to stop. He draws her nipples up to stiff pink buds, tender and sensitive, then drowns her in sensation as he covers them with his mouth.

He loses himself in her, chasing each little sound she makes, each restless shift against him, trying to coax everything he can from her and working himself up in the process, wanting more and more.

Sam eases her dress down lower as he kisses her and starts caressing her with long strokes over her hips and thighs, then undoes the snap of his jeans before he keeps petting her.

She shifts beneath him and takes over undoing his jeans when he pauses to stroke his hands over her body. Carefully, she tugs down the zipper, then pushes at the waistband, feeling like he’s lit her on fire.

“I want to see you,” she murmurs, kissing him again. “I want to touch you, all of you.”

"You can," he promises. "I want the same." Sam shifts a little, easing her way, and slides her dress the rest of the way over her hips and down, pushing it away.

She slides his jeans off his slim hips and down along his legs, curling up to pull them all the way off, along with her dress, rumpled around her knees. Lying back, she reaches for him again, winding her bare leg with his, savoring the warmth and feel of him.

She's sweet and beautiful and shining in the sunlight, and Sam falls completely under her spell. He draws her to him and gives her kiss after kiss, each one deeper and more passionate than the last, as he runs his hands up and down her back, pressing her close.

Each kiss leaves her dizzier than the one before, and she’s already breathless just from the feeling of his mostly-bare body against hers. She waits for panic to strike, but none comes, only the heightened sensations of nervousness.

She kisses him once more, then dots a few shy kisses over his cheek and jaw and along his throat, breathing him in with each kiss, learning the taste of him and the things he likes best.

He shudders as she kisses the sensitive spot behind his jaw, tipping his head back to give her more room. Sam wraps his arms around her and rolls them over until he's lying on his back with her stretched out on top of him, able to run his hands all along her body.

She squeaks, delighted, and shifts herself up along his body until she can look down at him, her hair falling in a golden cloud around them, soft as morning sunshine.

“You’re so sweet,” she murmurs, and leans down to kiss the other side of his throat, the same spot that had made him shiver like that, wanting to see if she can make him do it again.

He huffs out a soft breath of laughter at her observation, then shudders again as she kisses the other side of his neck. Sam groans aloud and strokes his hands all the way down her back, cupping the swell of her rear and rocking her against him.

Her breath comes fast and shallow as he handles her, and she runs her own hands over his shoulders and chest, then kisses her way down to the line of his collarbone, the locks of her hair tracing over his skin and following her every movement.

"Take the rest off," she murmurs, into his skin, as his hands roam over the thin cloth of her underthings. "Let me feel all of you."

He's shivering almost constantly now from her touch, her kisses, the feel of her hair brushing over his skin, and couldn't find it in himself to deny her sweet request even if he wanted to. Sam turns his head to kiss her hair, then wraps an arm around her to hold her secure as he twists under her to remove his underwear.

He hooks his fingers in the top of hers and gives it a light tug. "You, too."

She reaches one hand down and pulls at the waist of her panties, letting him help with the other side, then shifts off of him and to the side to divest herself of them, light and thin and still somehow having felt like impenetrable armor.

And then there's nothing but him and his skin against her and hers. She stays on her side, meeting his eyes with her cheeks pink from warmth and self-consciousness, and doesn't let herself look at him yet. She just breathes, and rests her hand on his side, and tries to slow her racing pulse.

She's blushing, and he's pretty sure she's nervous. Slow down, he orders himself, between ragged breaths and racing heartbeats and a deep desire to just pull her to him and drown in her. Go slow. Do what she needs.

Sam runs his hand lightly up and down her side and leans in, deliberately holding her gaze, to give her a gentle kiss.

"You're doin' it already," she murmurs, in response to his half-heard thought, and kisses him back. Her hand curves around his shoulder as she slips an ankle over one of his, and she pushes up onto an elbow so she can lean down and kiss that spot behind his jaw that had made him shake and groan before.

He shudders again and pulls her close, then rolls them back over until she's lying on the soft blanket and he's braced over her. The look in his eyes is intent as he searches her face for a moment, but then he leans down to kiss her again -- and starts working his way down her body with kisses and caresses as he did before.

She doesn't resist, only rests her hands lightly on his shoulders and curved at the back of his head as she shivers and trembles under his kisses, under his touch. She's never felt anything like his large, gentle hands running over her skin, teasing her into delighted pleasure, and she doesn't see how she could ever get enough of it.

"Yes," she tells him, breathless, her body curving up to meet his touch, his lips. "Please."

He kisses his way down to her belly and lingers there, pressing kiss after kiss to her navel, then moves back up to cherish her breasts once more with kisses and teasing caresses.

As he does, he slides his other hand down her body, over her hip and upper thigh, and cups the warmth at her center before he starts teasing her with his fingers there, too.
