She wakes up feeling numbed and exhausted, and the sight of a dead werewolf in her living room does nothing more than to make her sigh, inwardly. More death and destruction: it's all around and how is she ever going to escape it? Does she even want to, if it means she can stay with Bill?
Nothing surprises her, not really, all that day, until she gets the call from Hadley. Hadley, who told Sophie-Anne about Sookie, Hadley who ran away, Hadley who has a little boy named Hunter.
Hunter, who is like Sookie herself.
Someone like me. It hasn't happened since she met Barry the Bellboy, and she doesn't know how to feel. Excitement, concern and some deep sense of wrongness chase each other around and through her, and she can't help wondering...does Bill know? Is Hunter somewhere in the file of his?
So she asks. And what she finds out is nothing she'd ever expected to hear.
